What we do
Gaston Murdock provides French/English translation and copyediting services. Our focus areas include:
How we do it
At Gaston Murdock, we follow a five-step process to guarantee accuracy and timely delivery:
1. Determine the client's needs
Do you require a short summary of what's on the page or a bright and shiny print-ready document? Our first step is to help you decide what you need. We'll save you time and money by making sure you're buying the right service.
2. Assess the text
An academic journal article. A breezy and informal newsletter. A carefully worded speech. Each requires different vocabulary, style and formatting. We determine the time and resources we'll need to produce a flawless text.
3. Research the terminology
We thoroughly research field terminology using document comparison, industry glossaries and international databases. We closely follow trends in our areas of specialization and keep on top of latest developments.
4. Craft the translation
Our state-of-the-art software preserves your original formatting, so the translation looks exactly like the document you sent us. We also maintain customized glossaries, term banks and translation memories for our clients. Once the initial draft is complete, a reviser looks over the text and polishes the details before sending it back to the translator for the final stamp of approval.
5. Dot the i's and cross the t's
Would you like some American color or do you prefer to keep your British honour? An experienced copyeditor checks the spelling and grammar, inspecting every semicolon, ellipsis, and Oxford comma. Unless otherwise requested, at Gaston Murdock we follow the rules of the Canadian Style Guide. This final step ensures your document is ready for publication when we deliver it to you.
